Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Maugic makes music and audio plugins. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how to get it removed.

Our plugins are distributed free of charge. We ask for an account so that we know who is using them and can reach you if a serious bug or security problem is found — plugins have no auto-update, so email is the only channel we have. We do not collect data to sell it or to profile you.

2. What We Collect

Browsing this site requires no account and collects no personal data.

If you create an account, we store:

• Your email address. This is your login — we sign you in with a one-time link rather than a password.
• Consent records: when you accepted these terms, and whether you opted in to product announcements.
• Your licenses: license key, product, and status.
• Activated devices: a one-way hash of a device identifier, a label you choose, and activation / last-seen timestamps.
• Session cookies to keep you signed in. See our Cookies Policy.

We never receive your raw device ID, MAC address, or serial number. The plugin hashes it on your machine and sends only the hash, which we cannot reverse.

3. What We Do Not Collect

We want to be specific about this, because audio software is often assumed to phone home:

• No usage analytics or telemetry. We do not record which features you use, how often you open the plugin, or what settings you choose.
• No audio and no project data. Nothing you make ever leaves your machine.
• No passwords — we do not use them, so there are none to store or leak.
• No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Our licensing server handles licenses only. It knows that an account exists and which devices were activated. It does not know what you do with the software.

4. Why We Use It (Legal Basis)

• Running your account and licenses — necessary to provide the service you asked for.
• Important notices (security fixes, critical bugs, changes to this policy) — necessary to provide the service. You cannot opt out of these, because they are part of using the software safely.
• Product announcements — only with your separate, optional consent. This is off by default and you can turn it off at any time from your account page. It is never bundled with account creation.

5. Who Else Processes It

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for marketing. We use these providers to operate the service:

• Vercel — website and API hosting
• Neon — database
• Resend — sending login links and notices
• ImprovMX — receiving mail sent to our @maugic.com addresses

We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

6. How Long We Keep It

• Account and licenses: until you delete your account.
• Login links: 24 hours, then deleted. A link is consumed the first time it is used.
• Sessions: up to 30 days, or until you sign out.

7. Your Rights

You may access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect your account or licenses.

Deleting your account erases your email address and device hashes, and revokes your licenses. Because licenses are checked offline, a plugin already activated on your machine may keep working until its current token expires; it will not renew.

You can delete your account yourself from your account page, or email us and we will do it.
